Built With Safety & Superior Protection In Every Layer
Our Pampers nappies are designed with a dedicated team of safety experts and medical professionals to ensure every material and ingredient is safe for use in baby products.
Because a nappy touches your baby’s skin more than anything else, we’ve built safety into every layer:
Our 4 Steps Safety Process for Your Peace of Mind
Wondering how we deliver on our safety promise? We back that up with a rigorous multi-step safety process that includes thousands of tests daily – from ingredients to production line quality checks. Let's dive in!
1. We only select trusted, safe ingredients
We carefully source raw materials from vetted suppliers who meet or exceed safety standards set by Europe, the U.S. and global health organisations. We never use ingredients like natural latex, disperse dyes, or elemental chlorine bleaching in our products.
2. We test and retest every material
Before using any component, we thoroughly assess both the formulation and its supplier. Once approved, we conduct compatibility studies on the manufactured components. We work with dermatological experts and third-party validators like the Skin Health Alliance to go beyond industry requirements to deliver our Pampers Promise.
3. We rigorously check every product
Before any product reaches your home, it has gone through multiple rounds of lab and clinical testing, especially for sensitive skin. Each Pampers nappy is designed to minimise the risk of allergies or skin redness and is dermatologically tested.
4. We monitor in real time, every day
Thousands of quality checks are performed on every production line daily. Each pack of Pampers is completely traceable, right back to our manufacturing sites. Every day, we talk with parents around the world, gathering feedback so we can continue to raise our standards.

Remember that some of these substances are present in everyday life and therefore may be present in trace amounts of everyday household items, such as drinking water, air or dust. These can occasionally be detected using very sensitive analytical equipment, not representative of real usage conditions. What’s important to remember is that every substance has a safe threshold, and we’re committed to working against the highest safety standards. We will NEVER use an ingredient that poses a safety concern to your baby.

Frequently Asked Questions on Pampers Nappies
Pampers nappies are made from carefully selected materials that work together to keep your baby comfortable, dry and protected. These include:
Modified cellulose fibres coming from FSC®-certified forests and other controlled sources.
Super-absorbent material that locks liquid away from skin.
Soft fibres like polypropylene and polyester. Polypropylene brings comfort to the nappy in contact with skin, and polyester draws moisture into the absorbent layers.
Polyethylene film to provide a waterproof yet breathable outer cover.
Elastane in cuffs and waistbands for a snug fit and to prevent leaks.
Protective balm on the topsheet to help maintain healthy skin.
Adhesives (certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100) to safely hold layers together and add designs away from baby’s skin.
Every component and our nappies are rigorously tested, dermatologically evaluated, and certified by independent experts.
Yes! All Pampers products are safe. Our nappies, pants and wipes use carefully selected and trusted ingredients that are common in most nappies and wipes and are safely used by millions of babies every day. All our nappies are dermatologically tested, certified according to OEKO-TEX STANDARD-100 and tested against +1,000 harmful substances and accredited by the Skin Health Alliance as safe for a baby’s skin. Each nappy goes through thousands of daily quality checks and follows a strict four-step safety process — from sourcing trusted ingredients to independent testing and real-time monitoring on production lines. That means every Pampers nappy is designed not only to protect against leaks but also to help protect your baby’s precious skin.
Adhesives are essential to hold the different nappy layers together to prevent leaks and to provide skin comfort. The adhesives are sealed between layers, never touching your baby’s skin. At Pampers, we use safe, solvent-free, non-sensitising adhesives. Our adhesives are certified Standard 100 by Oekotex, like all the other materials that go into Pampers product design. Pampers nappies are recommended by the dermatologists of Skin Health Alliance.
The elastane we use is free of natural rubber latex. This material is not in contact with your baby’s skin as it is covered by polypropylene to provide a soft touch next to their skin. You can find it in the leg cuffs, back pocket and waistband to provide a gentle, customisable fit of the nappy and to help prevent leakage.
Sodium polyacrylate is the super-absorbent granule at the heart of the nappy. It locks liquid away from your baby’s skin, keeping it dry and comfortable. Fun fact: 1 granule has a high absorbing capacity and can absorb up to 30x its weight in urine! It was invented in the 80s and became a key ingredient of disposable nappies. It is proven to be safe for baby use. It is kept inside the absorbent core, away from the skin. At Pampers, our latest generation of SAP acts very fast. It locks wetness at the heart of the nappy in just a few seconds to prevent wetness from coming into contact with the skin. This helps prevent leaks and keeps your baby’s bottom dry for up to 12 hours.
This soft fibre brings comfort to the nappy parts in contact with skin. It helps pull wetness away from your baby’s skin into the absorbent core, keeping your baby dry and comfortable. Polypropylene is safe and widely used in medical textiles.
This technical fibre is specially designed to acquire and spread wetness horizontally on the nappy.
Polyethylene is mainly used as a thin and protective film in the outercover to prevent leaks. It acts like a barrier that prevents wetness from passing through, while still allowing air to circulate so your baby’s skin can breathe. It is widely used in medical products, which means it is carefully tested and safe for everyday contact.
The softened topsheet helps protect your baby’s skin against wetness and irritations. We use ingredients widely known and used in the Pharmaceutical Industry. A clinical study involving 60 children showed that using nappies with balm significantly reduced the severity of skin irritation. Note that consumers have the choice to select Pampers Harmonie without the protective balm.
Yes. We use a colour-changing indicator that reacts to wetness to let parents know when it’s time to change the nappy. It is used in tiny amounts and never touches the skin. Most Pampers nappies have a wetness indicator. Check the packaging to find this feature!
Our recommendation for Pampers nappies is to use them within 12 months after opening the pack. Unopened, we recommend using within 3 years. When it comes to our wipes, they indeed have an expiry date, which you can find on the packaging. Our recommendation is to use them within 3 months after opening.
This is a natural fibre derived from wood that absorbs and channels wetness to the core of the nappy. Cellulose also provides comfort to your baby when they sit, as it helps give a little cushion to their bottom. It is bleached with an Elemental Chlorine Free process. The cellulose we use comes from FSC® certified forests and other controlled sources.
Pigment-based inks are used to print fun designs, characters and to indicate different parts on the nappies. We use large dyes that are not soluble in water and cannot penetrate the skin. They are applied only on the outside of the nappy, away from your baby’s skin. Pampers products are recommended by dermatologists of the Skin Health Alliance.
